Sunday 19 Nov 2023 - Hawthorn to Box Hill Trail discovery ride

Supporters of the Hawthorn to Box Hill Trail did a short ride to explore the proposed trail route from Camberwell Station to Glenferrie Oval. 

Dr Monique Ryan MP stated that the trail will encourage many more people to ride bikes and that there is very strong community support for the trail for both local and longer bike trips.

Along the way we visited:

• Newport Crescent - Boroondara Council is planning to use this for the trail because Victrack won't allow use of the rail trench.

• Burwood Road bridge over the railway line - the trail will drop down to the south side of the tracks

• Lilydale Grove - where the trail will be adjacent to the tracks

• Albert Street, Auburn Road and Glenferrie Road- where the trail bridges can accommodate the trail on the south side of the tracks
